The Makkah Metro is the biggest ever single order for platform screen doors in the history of Knorr-Bremse’s subsidiary Westinghouse Platform Screen Doors (WPSD).

The metro links the areas of Makkah, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah and was constructed in order to reduce congestion during the festival of Hajj, the largest annual pilgrimage in the world.

The Makkah Metro project is the largest installation ever carried out by WPSD and in the shortest time. During the installation and commission stage an incredible 5.6 kilometres of platform screen doors were installed and commissioned.
